The President's Pairs Competition was played at Over Hulton Conservative Club on Sunday, 20th August. Due to a clash with dates with other League's Cup Finals and the District Ladies Cup Final we had depleted numbers taking part. Even though the number of pairs entering the competition was low the quality of bowlers participating was high. The field, draw and results can be found here. The final was contested between the pairing of Ian Lee (Lostock) and Lee Evans (Bar Lane X) and Shaun Toland and Keith Waddington both of Bar Lane C. Ian and Lee ran out the winners 21 - 10. Congratulations to Ian and Lee on a great win.
In presenting the trophy Clive Fenn thanked Over Hulton Conservative Club for hosting the event and providing a fantastic green to play on which had been prepared by Brian Anderson. He also apologised to the many of the Over Hulton players who had returned from their Cup Final in the Conservative League who would have participated if there hadn't been the clash.(Sunday 20 August 2017)
The President’s Pairs Competition is due to be held on Sunday, 20th August at Over Hulton Conservative Club with start and scratch out time of 12:30.
The Ray Chadwick Memorial Trophy is due to be held on Sunday, 24th September at The Railway Bowling Club on Green Lane with start and scratch out time also at 12:30.
These Competitions are open to all bowlers (men and women) who play in the Bolton District League but there is a £2 entry for each individual. Home team bowlers will have a handicap and Division 1 bowlers will be handicapped over Division 2 bowlers.
For the Ray Chadwick Memorial Trophy, Ray Chadwick (junior) is donating £100 to the prize pot in memory of his father and in an attempt to encourage more bowlers to enter.
All teams are asked to support the League’s Cup Competitions and are asked to send at least one if not two or more bowlers to take part in each event. To this end entry forms / posters for both Competitions have been sent to Team Secretaries to promote participation. If possible in an attempt to gauge the number of entries could you please let me know if you are planning to enter either competition a few days before the scheduled date. However, bowlers can just turn up on the day before the scratch out time of 12:30.(Monday 24 July 2017)

The Annual General Meeting of the League was held at the Railway on 17th January. With a full Agenda many items were discussed and a full Management Committee elected together with a new General Secretary of the League Graham Baxendale. The draft minutes of the meeting can be found here.
There were two Resolutions - the first was to drop the number of bowlers from 10 to 9 or possibly 8 bowlers per team in the Ladies' League - this resolution was defeated so teams will continue to have 10 bowlers.
John Preston had proposed in the Men's League that the set parctice times prior to the match introduced at the last AGM were scrapped. This resoltion was passed so that for the coming season there will be open practice in the 30 minutes prior to all matches.
It had been intended that the proposed new Rules for the League that had been circulated to all Team Secretaries with the AGM calling notice were to be approved, unfortunately this had not been made clear to Team Secretaries so it was decided the proposed rules would be discussed and adopted by vote at the next meeting which will now be a Special Meeting scheduled for 7.30pm on 21st 14th March at the Railway before the season starts. The proposed rules can be found here. Could all Team Secretaries read the proposed rules and discuss with their teams before the Special Meeting on 21st 14th March? Anyone who plays for a team in the League may attend Special Meetings.(Wednesday 18 January 2017)

The AGM was held on 19th January 2016. A successful meeting where the status quo was essentially maintained. The only significant change was that in the mens' league, fixed practice times will be adopted from the coming season. The home team practice would start 30 minutes before the scheduled start time and be for 15 minutes. The away team would then have 15 minutes practice before the commencement of the match.
Lancashire and BCGBA Fees were discussed - at present these are understood to be
