INTERCLUB CHALLENGE Trophy WINNER !!!!Interclub Challenge Trophy winner - Rosie Robins.pdf Despite all gloomy weather forcasts, Sunday 21st September 2025 was a wonderful sunny day, but not too warm - perfect. And what a success! Everyone really enjoyed the new format, which turned the event into an end-of-season get-together for all the clubs, as all were represented by their best player. All games were hard fought, with most going down to the wire and resulting in 20-21 wins, including the final! So who was our very first Interclub Challenge Champion ? - None other than our very own Registrar: ROSIE ROBINS !!!! Very well done Rosie. (A delighted winner can be seen by clicking the attached photo). Our very grateful thanks must go to the host club of Harthill, who made us feel very welcome and went to enormous trouble to keep us well supplied with refreshments ( mouth-watering cakes), and equipment (a 6' stick!). All our players will now be trying even harder to compete next year !

What is a Charity PAIR?I have been asked how we draw partners for the Charity Funday competition so, assuming 24 entrants, here goes:- All entrants are listed in current best average order, highest to lowest. The first is paired with the last, second with next to last and so on throughout the list. From 24 entrants you then have 12 pairs with similar joint averages. The best pair is Red team 1, the next is green team 1, next yellow team 1 and 4th purple team 1. the next 4 highest are red 2, green 2, yellow 2 and purple 2 etc. The colour groups play each other in round robins of 9 ends only. Thus all ages and abilities are given the same chance of doing well and having fun. The Spider Game (Bowl a Bowl for a Tenner) takes place during lunchtime and the highest scoring pairs of each colour pool play off during the afternoon - raffle and finals around tea-time! See you there? Tessa

CHARITY PAIRS DAY AT TODWICKWhat a fantastic competition, with colour-coded teams of pairs, fighting it out in "round-robin" format for the top honours . The weather could have been better, but didn't detract from our enjoyment. Every one of our entrants got at least 2 games, played in a friendly and relaxed way. And what a final! - right down to the wire, with the winning pair of Mandy Wilks and Carol Walker winning on the very last end by one point 14-13 against Kath Woods and Amanda Jenner. Mandy & Carol are seen here receiving their trophies from Registrar Rosie Robins. Our very grateful thanks must go to Jane Cocking and her team ( Mal, Chris, Janet, Amanda, Lynne, Paul and Gordon), including Markers, Measurers and "Tossers", not to mention tea makers and washers-up. Rosie and Jane were the 2 main workers, running around on behalf of both Pat Elliott and myself who were both not fit. Mainly thanks to everyone's sterling efforts (ESPECIALLY WHOEVER IT WAS THAT MADE THE CAKES!!) , we raised the magnificent amount of £525 for our chosen Charity The "Forget-Me-Not" Altzeimer's Appeal. There is also the possibility that this sum could be doubled - I'll tell you more of that later. Thanks everyone. Tessa

Awards Presentation Lunch 2023A rather miserable day on Saturday November 4th saw a more boisterous gathering of ladies to congratulate our winners and celebrate another successful season. An excelent meal, a drink or two and some good company rounded off the year well. Kath Walton - our chairperson for many previous years, was present and - at 91 - still going strong, but it was a pity that our current Chairperson - Pat Elliott - was unable to attend due to an attack of vertigo. We all wish her a speedy recovery. Also showing a good recovery from recent surgery were Pauline Farrar and Mary Bird. We are all looking forward to a more healthy 2024. Our grateful thanks to Rosie Robins who organised everything to run like clockwork, and to all who helped the raffle raise £170 for our funds.

Champion of Champions 2023Sunday 10th September was a perfect day for the final highlight if our season - THE CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS competion to crown the best of our players. The first and second averages winners of all 4 leagues qualified - unfortunately 3 were not available to play (A Div 1; Vets 1; Doubles 2) - as they were already committed elsewhere, but we will be able to congratulate them all at the Presentation of awards lunch in November. As permitted by Bye-Law 30, the next in line to qualify (Competition Winners) filled the 3 places Because thunderstorms and heavy rain had been forcast, play got under way a little early, but we needn't have worried: apart from a few drops around lunch time, the weather was ideally suited for bowling and the watching friends and supporters were treated to some of the very best play in every match. All games were hard fought and the results of all were very close. Eventually, despite a spirited fight-back from runner-up Doreen Farncombe, the winner and CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS 2023 WAS - MANDY CLARRICOATES! Many congratulations
