Announcements

- No further registrations can be made after 31st July 2024.

- Northwood Park have pulled out of the 2024 season, so any fixtures which include Northwood Park are not to be played.

- The 2024 season will be made up of 22 teams, 10 in Division 1 and 12 in Division 2.

- Captains will be given a login to input their results at the pre-season meeting.

- If games need to be rearranged, please let Josh know.

How to enter your results:

- Go to the match that has been played that night

- Click "edit match" at the top of the page

- Enter your username and password

- Use the drop down menus to select your players and the opposition players

- Insert the scores per game

- Double check the total before clicking "submit"

Last day of registering new players is 31st July 2024.

History of the League

The Newcastle League was formed in 1984 for clubs from the Newcastle-under-Lyme area. The first season consisted of 10 teams and since that time the league has grown to incorporate teams from Stoke-on-Trent and South Cheshire.

League Information

The league is a affiliated to The North Staffordshire Parks Bowling Association and play under British Crown Green Bowling Rules.

The league formerly had 3 other cup competitions consisting of:

The Burgess Cup: The main competition of the Newcastle League open to all teams in the league on a handicap basis. Handicaps ranging from 0-20 and all matches will be played on the same night

The Derek Kelsall Trophy: Open to Division 1 teams and now played on a neutral green

The Jim Capewell Cup: Open to Division 2 teams and now played on a neutral green

The Jane Berrisford Memorial Trophy: Open to Division 3 teams and now played on a neutral green

KNUTTON VILLAGE

It is with regret that league have to inform everyone that Knutton have had to withdraw from the league due to the fact they have a green to play on but the council have told them they can not use the toilets etc. so any club due to play them it will be classed as a bye. Can we wish them luck at trying to get everything sorted for the future

Wolstanton Private 1 and 3 home fixtures

As per the previous news item concerning Wolstanton Pte 1 and 3 home Fixtures.  I have an update on the matter.

The green might not be available on the following Tuesdays not Friday as first reported for ladies competitions.

21st May, 18th June, 9th July, 30th July, 20th August.

For the Fridays please go by Burgess Cup dates.

They have requested as per the previous news item that they want to play most of the games on Tuesday night and will move to Friday on request if Tuesday is a problem.  Matches can't be mutually arranged unless it is cancelled.  They have to be played on scheduled week of the match either the Tuesday or Friday.  Please only ring Captains only to move to the friday or cancel please.

Wolstanton Private 1 and 3 home fixtures

All Wolstanton Private 1 and 3 home fixtures have been set to Tuesday evening unless stated at the request of the secretary.

There home fixtures are classed as a WEDNESDAY NIGHT fixture as per the league rules and can only be changed by the following.

1. Requesting the fixture be moved to the Friday of that week.

2. Cancelling the fixture if it cannot be played on Tuesday or Friday but has to be arranged between the 2 captains and a date arranged within 28 days.
