Introduction

RK opened the meeting to explain there was a lot to get through in the meeting. He opened to say that there was a ‘late’ entry into the league from Oughtrington. There would be 11 teams on a Monday (10 per side) and 24 teams on a Wednesday (8 per side).

League formats

RK had updated the website (www.cgleague.co.uk/sale-urmston) with all clubs on the green-finder map. A set of rules were also on the website. All contact details would be on the web-site. Existing user names are now redundant and new log-ins would be created in March: noting that there would be a different log-in for Monday and Wednesday. Data entry would not change.

There would be a meeting in March where all log-ins and BCG handbooks would be given out.

There would be a knock-out cup (one for each division) which would take place at the end of the season and would work with half the side at home, and half away (dependent on number per side). All draws have been made and are on the website.

There would also be a merit competition for each division and after discussion a pairs main.

Competitions would be done at weekends.

In terms of club administration – there have been a lot of changes at county level and it is still unclear in terms of which way the affiliation costs will go (i.e. club to county or club to league to county)

DBS checks would be coming up again and these would have to be renewed. Usually this process would be done over specific days. This was taken from a perspective of Greater Manchester. Based on discussions the Cheshire format should be very similar.

Club insurance was brought up – RK mentioned insure4sport as a potential avenue, which was quoting £32 as opposed to £49. Many outlets have public liability cover (larger clubs) which may potentially have this already in their policies. Clubs would have to check if they need to take the additional cover out. Parks greens would be ok in terms of the insurance covered.

Treasurer’s Report and fees

JF explained that the bank accounts were to be amalgamated with a £900 ‘float’. This money would be from both leagues. This leaves a balance from the Urmston league which will be divided up between the teams – a sum of around £135 per club would be given.

A new account would need to be set up, with the Urmston account to be closed. JF mentioned there would have to be additional signatories so that any issues involving payments could be dealt with swiftly at committee level.

BW added that affiliation fees would be £40 per team per night.

There would also be a registration fee of £2 per person per night which would bring in around £2,400 into the league.

Around £1,700 would be given out in price money for 1st/2nd/3rd in each league and Winners/Runners-up/Semi-finalists in individual and team competitions. With honorariums it would be that that what comes in, goes out in order to keep around £1,000 as a float for the league. It was pointed out that the team fees had unlimited entries into the competitions.

Election of committee

Would expect there to be only a handful of meetings through the year but a meeting in November would go through rule changes if handbooks are to be used in the following season.

Meeting was closed with date of next meeting being 23rd March at Mersey Valley, 7.30pm to be confirmed.
