Chairman Opening Remarks - Welcomed to the meeting, Thanks given to sponsors and greens who hosted competitions. American Pan £600, Mrs Lesley Haworth £50 to league and £50 donation for raffle prize at DH Trophy. Thanks to Kathleen Williams for presenting MW Trophy, Eric Williams for continuing as President all other committee members. Good savings made on banner and score cards. Request to players any offer of help to the league will be most welcome.

Minutes of Last AGM – Proposed by M.B. seconded by D.B.

Matters Arising – Need to finalise tribute to Mick Williams and David Haworth.

Secretary Report – County Affiliation letter, Keith Andrews, Thanks to Ian Price for sponsorship.
Secretary AW reported that he will be standing down, chairman thanked him for two years work.

Fixtures Secretary – Longsight B staying in the league, Eddie Ellard will be captain. Astley Bridge given until 31 January to get a few more players ie from Egerton. fixtures to be created once we know how many teams there will be. John Hawkins to stand down as Vice capt Longsight A due to ill health. Milburn Cup – as per last year top teams won – rethink handicap system. E.E. suggested that we start season a couple of weeks later, this and cup match location to be discussed at Feb meeting.

Treasurers report – Thanks to sponsors, Lesley Haworth, Joyce Makinson, also to Kathleen Williams for presentation of trophy. £547.00 made on raffles. Very good savings made on engraving and score cards. Request all trophies to be returned no later than the September meeting as BR had to make 3 return trips to Clitheroe (160 miles). Balance sheet audited by Eagley, Edgworth. Next auditors Edgworth A&B Proposed Margaret Turtington seconded by G Howard

Auditors Report – Eric Williams thanked Sandie for very clear, easy to audit accounts.

Correspondence - Letter from Keith Andrews no increase in league affiliation fees but BCGBA to increase to £35.00.

Proposals

  1. competitions to start at 11.30 am, sign in at 11.15 for prompt start – carried.
  2. Ladies merit prize 1st only. Amended to be an Open Merit Prize – carried. Change trophy details to remove “Men’s” merit. Highest lady in overall merit to receive new trophy. – carried, three were against.
  3. Ainsworth Shield and Milburn Cup semi final and final to be played at Darbyshire park using both greens on the same day. Query if Darbyshire Park will still have two greens open re parks situation. Clive Fenn responded does not think council will close any greens this year. May be that the council will only cut one green (league to consider paying for cut prior to competition)
    Amendment Eddie Ellard If it is to be two green venue to be agreed at a later date which club will host. carried e.g. Derbyshire Park or some other venue (Railway or Moss Bank Park)
  4. George Wood Trophy - open up to 32 entrants – carried 3 against. Only fined if no players turn up from a club.
  5. Separate AGM and presentation evenings - defeated.
  6. League Fees pay in advance – defeated.
  7. Competition Secretary – new position Mike Dickinson (4 comps) – carried.
  8. Non attendance prize money forfeit – withdrawn.

Election of officers

Barry Robinson, Chairman. Mike Bailey, Vice Chairman Jim Sheffield, Fixtures Secretary Sandie Whittaker, Treasurer also nominated General Secretary by Brenda Heathcote, seconded by Kath Beardsworth. Honoraria for Competition Secretary voted on £60.00 agreed.

Date of next meeting 12 February 2020 7.30pm Dunscar Conservative club.
