Closing 4somes - held at Timperley Parish on Wednesday 25 September. The closing 4somes were held at Timperley Parish on the day before the rains came! There were 28 entries, which was a good turn out and made for good competition. The first four pairs were only separated by 5 points. Steph Ashraf and Julie Wraxall were the winners with 30 points, followed in second place by Andrea Gannon and Judith Taylor with 28 points. Sue Burns and Jean Williamson were third with Rose Hopkins and Carol Burns in fourth. It was nice to see some different people on the rostrum! Many thanks - as always - to the ladies from Navigation Pub for their organisation and to Timperley Parish for hosting the competition and providing excellent refreshments. And to everyone who took part. That was the last competition of the season. Well played everyone for another successful season.

League MeritThe League Merit was held on 21 August on a lovely clear day, but one which flattered to deceive. Many blankets were in evidence! However the competition was well attended. Most of the competition was played in good weather but unfortunately it was a long day and had to be finished the following week. There were many close matches and one semi and the final didn't get played on the day. However, the final was eventually won by Judith Taylor with runner up Jackie Goodwin. Congratulations to all those who took part, to Riddings for their lovely refreshments and to Navigation for organising the competition.

Johnson TrophyThe Johnson Trophy was held at Quarry Bank on 24 July. It was a long day with some excellent bowling. The weather promised was very warm and sunny, but it was actually warm and cloudy with the odd shower. However, the competition was well supported and there were a lot of spectators. The trophy was won by Les Keegan from Quarry Bank with runner up Debbie Stabler from LMRCA. Thanks to Quarry Bank for hosting the competition and providing lovely cakes and refreshments. Thanks also to Navigation Pub for organising the competition, and to all those who took part and came to support.

Johnson Trophy - Weds 24 JulyA reminder that entries for the Johnson Trophy should be with Maggie by 21 July. Entrants should be at The Quarry for 11am strikeout. As the competition is being held at a pub people should not bring their own sandwiches but can buy savoury items at the pub. Quarry Bank Ladies will provide biscuits and cakes for purchasing on the day with tea or coffee. Obviously other drinks can be bought in the pub.

Hospital Cup - held on 26 June 2024 at Hale MossThe Hospital Cup was held on a beautiful day - too hot really, at Hale Moss. The green was in lovely condition and was running very fast. The standard of play was very high and some tight matches were played. The final was played between Lesley Keegan and Trish Day, with Trish finishing the winner. One disappointing factor was that there were only 14 entrants - hopefully more people will offer to play next year as this is an important competition which used to be extremely well attended. Many thanks to Hale Moss for hosting the competition and providing some lovely cakes - the lemon drizzle was particularly good!! Thanks to Navigation Pub for organising the competition, and to all the ladies who came along to support the bowlers - and of course to all the hot bowlers! A lovely day was had by all.

Many thanks to Navigation Pub for organising the competition and to Ashton Park for hosting it, and providing excellent refreshments which were enjoyed by all. Congratulations to all who took part. Thanks go to the ladies at Navigation for organising and providing lovely refreshments.

Opening 4's - held 3 April 2024 at Hale and HermitageThe Opening 4's competition was held on a very wet day. However, it was well represented with a large number of pairs taking part. The weather persisted most of the afternoon and after two rounds some players decided to call it a day. However some hardy souls chose to continue the competition and play the four rounds. The eventual winners were Debbie Stabler and Carol Burns. Runners up were Carol Gunter and Kath Kendal. Congratulations to them and everyone who took part. Thanks to Navigation Pub for organising and to Hale and Hermitage for providing excellent refreshments.
