New players aged over 55 are required by teams in this League please email steveannette63@gmail.com if interested The Eccles and District Veterans’ Bowling League is for players over 55 years of age. It is based around Eccles, and extends to Swinton, Irlam, Stretford, Sale and Urmston. There are also knockout cup competitions for each division, plus Merit and Pairs Competitions held throughout the season. Details of all these events will be updated on this website throughout 2026. League Meetings 2026 all at 10-30am at Winton Park Vets Club Friday 16 January { AGM } Friday 27 February Friday 22 May Friday 17 July Friday 28 August (revised ) Friday 16 October [cancelled due to only three Notices of Motion having been recieved ] It is for each club delegate to discuss the details with their respective club members and to attend the AGM with the clubs view, which will then be voted upon. Friday 27 November ( AGM ) Notices of Motion Newtown 1. Standardised minimum and maximum legitimate lengths to 19 metres and 38 metres 2. Knockout cup and competition dates to be published at the same time as fixtures . ie prior to the start of the season. Sale 1. A one league system with one team per club with 9 to 10 players. This would result in 16 fixtures per season if all the current clubs take part. Members have expressed concern at the league set up last season and the inability to provide full teams going forward it looks likewe will not be able to provide two six a side teams. Members were also concerned that the A and B teams were split up during the season playing at different venues. Winton Park 1. That the start time for the 2027 season be revised to a new time of 11.00 a.m. Last season on quite a few occasions we struggled due to the extreme heat where games were cancelled, players took ill, and somewere unable to finish their games. if the future weather predictions are correct this looks as thoughthis will be tghe norm. By starting earlier it will make a vast difference to the temperature we bowl in. A further advantage of an earlier start is that we will be home before all the traffic congestion caused by the schools finishing at about the same time as we do at the moment. |
