- Officers Reports.
The Treasurer presented the annual accounts, which showed a balance in the bank of £486.53 He gave a brief résumé and answered a few questions relating to the income and expenditure and closed by saying that to comply with rule 6.3 he would propose a rebate of approximately £9 per team who competed during the 2011 season. John Legh (Chelford) asked if we intend to present our retiring Chairman with a gift as a thank you for his years of work with the league. The treasurer said that he had made provision for this and was the reason why he could only estimate the rebate. It was unanimously agreed that the presentation should take place during the annual presentation evening. The Secretary had nothing to report in the closed season.
- Competitions.
The Secretary gave the dates and proposed venues for 2012 competitions and asked delegates to confirm that their clubs were prepared to host them Warford Park is the venue for this year's individual competition but have asked for it to be put back to 2013 and accordingly the next club on the rota will be asked to host this competition.
Individual - Sunday 3rd June - Knutsford Bowling Club.
Mixed Pairs - Saturday 30th June - Goostrey Bowling Club
Pairs - Sunday 2nd September - Mere Parish Club
It was pointed out that the weekend 2nd/3rd June is the celebration of the Queens Diamond Jubilee and accordingly it was agreed to re schedule this competition. The date will be confirmed at the AGM next month.
- Proposals for the AGM
- It is proposed that we change the existing system of pairing players for league matches. Instead of the present random selection by the captains the pairings would be based on the averages as published on the league web site. The captains would present their team in average order (1 to 8) the sheets placed together and those would be the pairings ie 1 plays 1, 2 plays 2, etc down to 8 playing 8. The aim of this proposal is fundamentally to allow more competitive matches for lesser players, which we hope will encourage new players into the league and stop existing players leaving. Proposed by Warford Park Bowling Club A lively discussion took place on the pros and cons and delegates were asked to discuss with their team members prior to voting at the AGM.
- Existing officers are all prepared to stand again for election except the Chairman. A nomination has been received for this post, but again the meeting was reminded that nominations for all positions would be put to the AGM for selection.
The secretary said that any further proposals must be received prior to the AGM.
- Any Other Business.
The Secretary read out a letter from Francis House Children's Hospice thanking members for their donation of £134 raised from the competition held during our Presentation Evening.
The chairman reminded the meeting of the AGM to be held on Thursday 23rd February at 8pm
There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.55pm.
