- Matters arising. Presentation evening – see item 9.
- Officers Reports. The Secretary said that the self-reporting was going well with all clubs keeping results up to date.
- New Players Handicaps. Handicaps were agreed for 13 players who have now completed in excess of 4 games.
- Mixed Pairs Draw. The draw took place for this year’s competition. 23 entries were received. The preliminary rounds will take place on Friday 2nd September at various greens and the draw will be posted on the web site. Chelford Bowling Club will host the final day on Sunday 4th September commencing at 12.30pm.
- Jack Bryning. 16 teams entered for the Jack Bryning floodlit pairs competition and the draw took place. The first round will take place on Thursday 15th September. Qualifying teams from round one will play round 2 at the Victory Hall on Monday or Tuesday 19/20th September with the semi-final on Thursday 22nd September. The final and third place playoff will take place on Sunday 25th September. All evening games to commence at 6.30pm. Final days play commences at 12.30pm. The meeting was reminded that if a club only has one team entered into this competition they would take the handicap of the higher team. (rule 12.7) The Secretary said that this rule might need to be reviewed if a clubs lower team entered play within their squad, and don’t play any player(s) from their higher positioned team, it might be more appropriate to handicap them accordingly.
- Presentation Evening. This was discussed at the last committee meeting and decided because of major building work at our usual venue at Mere, that as a one off hold the event at Shaw Heath Social Club. This has now been booked and will be held on Friday 25th November. Catering will as usual be by Mary Owen and her team. Tickets priced at £8 will be available before the end of the season, and delegates were asked to encourage their members to attend to what is a very good social evening. As usual clubs were asked to provide a raffle prize.
- Any Other Business. Kath Perks (Cranford) asked if it was possible to register a further player even though the final date for registrations has passed. A short discussion took place and although it was appreciated that this was not supplementing the team with a “ringer” it was felt that it was setting a precedent and we should abide by rule 3.3. The delegate agreed and withdrew the request.
Jack Stant (High Legh) informed the meeting that at some time in the near future the A50 road from Mere towards High Legh will be closed temporarily. This will cause some difficulty for teams visiting the greens at High Legh and Oughtrngton and for their players traveling in the opposite direction. The Secretary said he would e-mail captains of the teams concerned to review their travel arrangements particularly to Oughtington where they do not have the benefit of floodlights.
There being no further business the meeting closed at 8.40pm
